Gallery 1313
1313 Queen Street West, Toronto
Gallery 1313 was pleased to host 19 Graduating Students from the Visual Art stream of the School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design at York University. Fellow students, faculty and gallery visitors were treated to a eclectic mix of graduate work. It was curated and hung by faculty and represented a mix of the best work coming out of the art program. Associate Professors Michel Daigneault and David Scott Armstrong installed the exhibition.

There was a variety of media used to create a diverse collection of works including sculpture such as Nicole Mulder’s centre towering work of clear coffee cups filled with pills and Denise Chan’s “Untitled” portrait paintings including one of her sister. The large, colourful painting of Claire Scott drew visitors into the gallery exhibition. Esra Tortumlu’s digital prints titled “500” – mounted on the south wall of the Gallery – also held a commanding presence. All the works seemed to have pleasing merits that held the exhibition together.
