Gallery 1313’s ECO Art Exhibition reception was a lively event with lots of the arts community coming over to check out the exhibit along with environmentalists.

The exhibition took over all three galleries. Montreal artist Alexandre Cv participated in the exhibition with his digital prints of a abandoned WalMart among others. Filmmaker Annette Mangaard screened her video DOWN BY THE RIVER, a video commissioned about water concerns.

Photographer Jonathan Groeneweg displayed a large print of a garden viewed from above while artist Marjan Vestappen’s video showed the changing water front of Toronto’s harbour. Lynn Kelly’s sculpture of a burnt out tree stump dominated the middle of the gallery and Paul Brandejs sculpted canvas of trees complemented it.

Kingston artist, Neli Nenkova’s paintings were well received as well.
The annual exhibit has been a good event for bringing together artists whose work concerns the environment.

This large group exhibition included works about water issues, urban farming, forestry, wildlife endangerment and many more environmental concerns as identified by over 20 artists works using film, painting, mixed media, photography and printmaking to express their concerns. The exhibition was curated by Gallery Director, Phil Anderson.
