Paul Petro Contemporary Art is pleased to present new work by Toronto-based artists Peter Bowyer.
Peter Bowyer exhibits some work that the he produced in Holland last year – a galvanized steel sculpture, a video loop and a text piece that stems from his investigation into dimensional boundaries.
Peter Bowyer is a Toronto based sculptor. He holds an honors BA from Central Saint Martins and an MA from HKU in the Netherlands. Since the 1980s he has produced installations that combine drawing and sculpture, large works realized in public sites, hand drawn animated film loops, simulated furniture, and now a performative form of sculpture. His current work explores sensory aspects of the higher dimensions, particularly intra-dimensional areas, where one dimension crosses over into another. He was represented by Cold City Gallery in Toronto through the 80’s and 90’s and has had solo exhibitions at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery (1995), The Toronto Sculpture Garden (2000), The Art Gallery of York University (2003), and The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (2006). “Five” is Bowyer’s fourth solo exhibition at Paul Petro Contemporary Art.
Later in the month, Peter Bowyer’s most recent sculpture “Flat Space” will be presented at Bay St and Queen St West in Toronto. Commissioned for Nuit Blanche, this work will, for one night, create an optical and physical interference zone in the downtown core.
