Hangman Art Gallery is proud to announce Music Under New York, works by Jordan Starr exploring “A day in the life of nine NYC Subway Musicians”.

“Often these individuals are scoffed at as “bums who just need to get a real job” or a disturbance to their silent journey on the subway. They are not panhandlers, beggars or homeless. They are professionals and often carry many different hats that you and I share. Many have performed at Carnegie Hall and other large venues in New York City alongside some of your favorite musicians that you love and respect.” Jordan Starr

Jordan Starr is a photographer who prefers the aesthetics of the wet process of film developing and printing over digital prints. Beyond this, he feels that being involved in every aspect of the art is important to control the interpretation, artistic vision and quality of the final result. He was a student of Print Master, Jim Megargee at MV Labs in New York City for 8 months.

Jordan’s background in sociology and philosophy lends a genuine approach to documentary photography in exploring the lives of people who are often misunderstood living outside the mainstream society and beyond the Buskerfests.
