With their precisely plotted arcs and spirals, their vector and contour lines, and their frequent textual annotations, the abstract drawings of Jorinde Voigt evoke a world of diagrams and charts run wild. But for all the methodical rigour of their draftsmanship, it is the sweeping natural grace and beauty of these complex and expansive works that immediately arrests the eye.

“Jorinde Voigt is one of the most important artists of our generation.”– Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. A rising star of Germany’s art scene, Voigt has created a new series of drawings in response to Stewart Goodyear’s presentation of Beethoven’s piano sonatas at this year’s festival. Together, the 32 works—one for each sonata—brilliantly complement Goodyear’s performances with their distinct visual exploration of the emotive power of Beethoven’s music.

Join Luminato and the ROM for an Artist Talk with Jorinde Voigt on Friday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m (as part of Friday Night LIVE at ROM) and on Saturday, June 9 at 4:00 p.m. Both talks will be held in the exhibition space, on ROM’s Level 3. The talks and tours are free with ticketed admission (paid) to the ROM.
