Sadko Hadzihasanovic

In his work Sadko explores the construction of identity, and its cultural and social implications, with an extensive and ongoing portraiture-based body of work using mixed media and collage, and an array of references to popular culture. He refers to the environment of his upbringing in Bosnia and the relatively exotic vacation paradise of Cuba and its Communist undertones with works that contrast a childhood lived under the threat of war and an unhurried North American childhood lived without the burden of world affairs.

Sadko Hadzihasanovic studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, Bosnia, earned his MFA at the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia (1984), and arrived in Canada in 1993. Since his arrival Sadko has participated in over 60 exhibitions in public galleries and artist-run centres in Quebec and across Canada. Sadko is represented by Paul Petro Gallery in Toronto
