Artist and illustrator Maryanna Hardy hosts the second instalment of Fine Oak Art School’s monthly series of artist talks and one-day art workshops. Fine Oak Art School is bringing practicing artists direct to the curious public.

Artist’s Talk – Saturday, May 26, 8:00 p.m.

Maryanna Hardy will be giving an artist’s talk and unveiling her latest work. The talk is free and open to anyone, and will be followed by a reception with music and drinks. Hardy will be speaking about her new series of large scale narrative drawings. This series is a collaboration with friend and writer Jordan Coulombe, drawings that are as much about their relationship as they are about the story he wrote. Coulombe will be participating in this talk and reading his short story titled “The Winchester”. Hardy will also be talking about her book of drawings “So I’ve Been Told” and new additions to her “Dream Log” series. These new drawings will be up for the night of May 26, in coordination with the presentation.

Artist Workshop – Sunday, May 27, 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Hardy will be leading a workshop on narrative drawing, alongside Erica Beyea. The two artists will guide participants along creating their own drawing based on a narrative of their choice. All skill-levels are welcome and made comfortable; from people who “can’t draw a stick-figure” to folks confident in their rendering skills. BYOB and snack potluck, this workshop is entirely unintimidating and a lot of fun.
