Hangman Art Gallery is proud to present Got A Phone Make Contact, an interactive exhibition of the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival.

Advancements in digital photography have democratized image making  and given it an immediacy, utility and appeal it has never had before.

As part of the Contact Photography Festival, Hangman Art Gallery is presenting  images taken with a smartphone that reflect daily realities, both the mundane and the exceptional, in contemporary society.

The democratisation of the photographic image has reached a frenzied pace with advancements in digital imaging and social media. This is in direct contrast to traditional photographic practices. Today, anyone can produce and quickly share pictures of contemporary society by documenting their everyday life or pivotal events. The images projected within the gallery will constantly change as the participants of the exhibition upload new images that document their individual everyday experiences.
