Akas Tarmaji completed his Bachelor of Art and Design in his homeland of Java, Indonesia. After graduating he worked as an Art Director and Creative Director at various National advertising companies in Indonesia. In addition to his award winning design work, his interests in Indonesia included performance art, and exhibiting his drawing, painting and photography work.
When he landed in Canada in 2005 he turned to his photography to capture his new home. He now lives in Toronto where he has taken courses at OCAD to pursue his passion for photography.
Whether it’s his street based imagery or thematic work he uses the lens to represent and deliver his concepts.
His most current work is being shown at the 2012 CONTACT Photography Festival at the Gladstone Hotel and the John B. Aird Gallery.
