The result was a sound and video series entitled Noise Cooking. Myers, who is also a musician and chef, performed the preparation of recipes using cooking utensils with contact microphones attached to them; Chacon directed and videotaped the performances.

Their collaboration continues in Toronto Now, where they work with artist/chefs to push the possibilities of the movement and sound associated with the preparation of food. Presented as part of Planet IndigenUS a festival of current global Indigenous culture taking place in Toronto and Brantford from Aug. 10-19, 2012, Myers and Chacon’s project examines issues around ancestry, perseverance and celebration. It also uncovers unexpected connections between food prepared in places separated by great distances.

The popular Toronto Now series, now in its third year, celebrates the work of local artists and invites the public to engage with some of the city’s most exciting contemporary art projects, free of charge.

The Toronto Now series is generously supported by The Contemporary Circle

Contemporary programming at the AGO is supported the Canada Council for the Arts.

August 15 – October 28, 2012

Young Gallery

ART GALLERY OF ONTARIO

they work with artist/chefs to push the possibilities of the movement and sound associated with the preparation of food

[25

post-13637","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-listings_archive
["GET
