Now with the second TBA it looks like the bi-annual event will become something to look forward to and another good reason for us to celebrate the arts in Toronto.
The exhibition captures McMaster’s reflections on the beautiful and resourceful landscapes of her ancestors. The history and knowledge of the lands are truly immeasurable and invaluable.
Rye’s work encourages us to be active in our looking, to become conscious that perception is not passive, to realize that we actually construct what we see.
Both Prévost’ and Dembo’s work have a relationship with movement. Dembo shows the swinging of clothes in dance, while Prévost depicts the movement of ink in water.
We may be faced with a move in the future to another nearby location so I hope that works smoothly and that we continue to present a space that welcomes people, helps artists and enriches the community.
While the exhibit is a chance to celebrate all Gallery 1313 has accomplished in the past 25, the artworks also provide a glimpse into an exciting future for the gallery.
